New studio and preparation...
"CARRY ON exhibition 55cm x 40cm x 20cm" is a complete exhibition that fits within the Ryanair carry-on baggage restrictions. Inspired by the common statement " The artist is responsible for all shipping, insurance and travel costs" - So what is the affordable solution and how has this cost factor influenced the content of an exhibition?
All contents of this exhibition fit inside a 55 cm x 40cm x 20cm box and the transport of this package is part of the process and exhibition.
Contents/exhibition:
A series of drawings....things within spaces, fitting in, carrying, holding up, expansion and dispersion, ambiguous scale. The drawings are limited to the size of the box.
Several pieces are bent, folded and pinned together to create an element of volume/relief - but they can be flatpacked in transit.

I used a 7 piece set of Russian Nesting Dolls (the upper part) to create a series of bulging paintings and the bottom part to encase a series of concave drawings. The paintings nest inside one another, with the largest/final size at 17 cm high and 9cm diameter.
