the minutes - La Matanza
Thomas took a series of photos La Matanza on a farm in Spain, where family and friends had met for the slaughtering of the pigs and a big feast. Every part of the pigs were used to make all types of delicacy. It was a photo from this series that Thomas passed on to me at the minute.
The contrast between the beautiful earthy landscapes, free running pigs, people cooking in a basic tradition and the bright bloody butchering in Thomas’ photos conjure up a mixture of feelings...and somewhere along the way, I thought it would be fun to make a Jamón-Lady Gaga in response to Thomas' piece.
