Liquid landscape and solid air

In these paintings, I was trying to express the invisible flow of air and energy through the landscape.

I began by drawing substances that bubble out of solution. I observed how boiling liquids and rising smoke expand.
I studied the pulling and surging of tides and the spread of fire.

The skies in these paintings are solid and deliberate lines describe gravity.
Things fall from skies and pull up from the ground.
