Diagrams and cross sections

In general, I love diagrams because they usually simplify something complicated and they visually explain. In school, I really liked diagrams in Geography and Biology..I felt like I didn't have to study or learn off facts because I could explain it all in the drawing.

I often think about diagrams when I am painting and drawing. I imagine that I am showing a process or a cross section of the landscape. A also think about dissecting it, highlighting parts and simplifying.
