Looking inward to tell another story, 26X48cm, mixed media on 350gr paper. This painting will be exhibited from Tuesday the 13th of December in Toradh Gallery, Ashbourne, Co. Meath as part of Going Solo 16 exhibition. As part of the centenary programme, Meath County Council invited past winners of the Going Solo Award to make a piece of work that is inspired by the events of 1916.
There are two landscapes facing in towards thecentral sky area. Eyes are woven into the landscape.
I reflected on how Ireland, after the revolution, looked at itself to find independence and it focused on what was unique to the land and culture. While at the same time, I thought about today's Ireland and how we needlneed to inward again - to reflect on our history with openness and build new narratives.
